Volcan de mi Tierra: a tequila born from an exceptional volcanic terroir

Volcan de mi Tierra, Tequila from Mexico, was born in May 2017 from an alliance between LVMH (Moët Hennessy) and the Gallardo family, current owners of the brand. Established at the foot of the Tequila volcano in the volcanic region of Jalisco, the distillery cultivates an exceptional terroir shaped by an eruption 200,000 years ago, whose soils rich in iron and basalt give the blue agave singular aromas. Led by Julien Morel and Juan Gallardo, Volcan de mi Tierra stands out for its art of blending, assembling the finest agaves from the lowlands and highlands according to blending techniques inherited from French expertise in premium spirits, thereby creating tequilas of remarkable complexity.

Blanco: the art of blending

Volcán De Mi Tierra Blanco represents a unique blend of the finest agaves from the two emblematic regions of Jalisco: the Valles (lowlands) and the Altos (highlands). The brand reveals the richness of each terroir by using differentiated production processes, combining traditional and modern methods. The agaves from the lowlands are oven-cooked and fermented in wood, while those from the highlands are cooked in autoclaves and fermented in stainless steel. This hybrid approach makes it possible to create a complex and elegant tequila, where the herbaceous and spicy characteristics of the Valles meet the floral and fruity notes of the Altos. The Blanco thus embodies the philosophy of Volcan de mi Tierra: celebrating the diversity of Mexican terroirs through exceptional blending expertise.

Volcan de mi Tierra Margarita Cocktail

An emblematic cocktail of character based on Volcan Blanco tequila.

Ingredients:

· 45 ml Volcan Blanco
· 15 ml Triple Sec
· 25 ml lime juice
· 7.5 ml sugar syrup


Garnishes:

· Salt rim
· 1 lime wedge

Recipe:

· Make the salt rim on the edge of the glass
· Fill the shaker with ice cubes
· Pour in all the ingredients
· Shake then double strain into a rocks glass over ice
· Garnish with a lime wedge
