Description
The expression of a fine wine from Sauternes by Bernard Magrez
The estate
With its first harvest carried out in 1618, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a historic property in Sauternes. A Sauternes First Growth of 1855, this property is also the smallest in the appellation, with a surface of just 8.5 hectares. Located in the highest areas of the Bommes hill, the Clos Haut-Peyraguey takes its name from Peyraguey which means hill or promontory. Acquired in 2012 by Bernard Magrez, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is one of the most beautiful classified growths of Sauternes.
The vineyard
The vineyard dedicated to the Haut-Peyraguey Symphonie covers 21 hectares of vines aged 35 years on average. Located in the communes of Barsac and Sauternes, the vines are planted in gravel-sandy soils upon clay subsoil. The vineyard is managed with sustainable viticulture.
The wine
The Haut-Peyraguey Symphonie is made from a selection of vines from the 1855 First Growth Clos Haut-Peyraguey. Following in the footsteps of and made with the same requirements as the Clos Haut-Peyraguey, Symphonie du Haut-Peyraguey offers the experience of a great Sauternes wine.
The winemaking
Light settling with temperature control before fermentation in barrels (new oak or oak of one previous wine, depending on the character of each wine), regular racking.
The blend
95% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc
