Description
The aromatic richness and intensity of a Bordeau dry white wine
The estate
As Saint-Émilion's Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château Valandraud is one of the finest estates in the appellation. The cuvée Virginie de Valandraud offers remarkable value for money and is made from a selection of the estate's younger vines.
The vineyard
Virginie de Valandraud is a Bordeaux dry white wine made from vines planted in clay-limestone and siliceous-gravel soils. The vines are on average 20 years old. The area harvested to produce this wine is 1.5 hectares.
The vintage
Despite hot conditions and low rainfall, the vineyard's clay-limestone soils enabled it to conserve sufficient water reserves and avoid water stress.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand in 3 selections. The harvest is stored in a cold room before being pressed for 5 hours. Fermentation in barrels. The wine is aged for 9 months in barrels (one and two wines) and in concrete vats.
Blend
Sémillon (55%)
Sauvignon Blanc (45%)
