Description

An Argentinian Red wine imbued with finesse and complexity

The estate

Located in Mendoza, the estate Zuccardi is recognized as one of the producers of exceptional Argentinian wines. Sebastián Zuccardi is the third generation of winemakers on this family estate, whose history begins in 1963 when his grandfather planted the first hectares of vines in Maipú. Since January 2000, Sebastián Zuccardi has headed a vineyard of over 200 hectares at the foot of the Andes Mountains, whose wines reflect the richness of the terroirs of the Uco Valley.

Hailing from a visionary and forward-looking family, Sebastián Zuccardi established in 2008 a research and development unit dedicated to optimizing practices within the vineyard and in 2016 inaugurated a winery housing uniquely shaped vats and amphorae, the result of long years of research to work the juices as naturally as possible while limiting human intervention, in order to preserve the characteristics of each vineyard and enhance their expression during vinification.

Recognized as one of South America’s finest winemakers, Sebastián Zuccardi produces wines adored by connoisseurs and praised by critics.

Voted South America’s Best Vineyard in 2019 and 2020, the Zuccardi family estate was also named World’s Best Vineyard in 2020.

The vineyard

The grapes used to produce this Mendoza wine come from the eponymous vineyard located in the Uco Valley. Situated at the foothills of the frontal Andes, between 1,200 and 1,500 meters above sea level, these vineyards rest on soils composed of gravel, caliche and stones.

Vinification and aging

After harvest, the grapes are transferred by gravity into tanks. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts, followed by aging in concrete tanks. This wine from the Uco Valley is bottled without filtration.

Grape variety

This Aluvional Gualtallary Malbec 2020 from Zuccardi is a 100% Malbec.
