The intensity of a refined and velvety red grand vin from Saint-Émilion

In what was a great year for the Bordeaux region, the Grand Cru of Saint-ÉmilionChâteau Barde-Haut – has produced a magnificent 2018 vintage.

A blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%), the Château Barde-Haut 2018 expresses the grandeur of the Saint-Émilion terroir.

At the tasting, the Château Barde-Haut 2018 displays a dark purple colour. The intensely aromatic nose springs from the glass, revealing generous aromas of ripe black fruit, creme de cassis, and blueberry jam. The wine then evolves spicy notes of cinnamon and cigar box perfumes, further enhanced by fresh aniseed and liquorice. The wine weaves the palate with plenty of delicate and juicy fruit, structured with firm, velvety tannins and delicious fruity and spicy notes. Very fresh and delicious, the finish lingers long. A great vintage of Château Barde-Haut in a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru of character.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2018 Barde-Haut is a final blend composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it sashays sensuously out of the glass with effortless baked blackberries, preserved plums and blueberry pie notes plus hints of incense, powdered cinnamon, cigar box and star anise. Full-bodied and packed with spicy black and blue fruits, it is beautifully textured with firm, velvety tannins and just enough background freshness, finishing very long and seductive.
