Château Cap de Mourlin 2010

Chunky, uncomplicated, but attractive in a fleshy, delicious, medium to full-bodied style without a great deal of complexity, Cap de Mourlin’s 2010 is best drunk over the next decade.

The plum paste and blackberry coulis notes are lined with brambly tannins and backed by hints of ganache and chestnut leaf on the muscular finish. Best from 2014 through 2018.

A chewy wine with lots of tannins and juicy fruit. An ash undertone. Full body, with velvety tannins and a good finish. This needs time to soften. Try in 2016.

Cap de Mourlin Licorice, plums, coco powder and oak, medium bodied, soft textures and a red and black plum finish. 88-90 Pts

Dark, ruby. Pure and fresh nose, dark plum, fresh berries and herbal spices. Quite full palate with notes of freshly crushed berries, a tannic backbone and long fresh finish.

Extremely dark purple. Lots of freshly cooked blackberries, with a subtle aeration note. On the palate, thick, heavy and rich, with plenty of blackcurrant; it feels alcoholic and has a slightly Port-like character. A late harvest doesn’t always pay off. Potential rating:

Extremely dark purple with lilac and violet highlights. Plenty of freshly cooked blackberries, with a subtle airy note in the background. On the palate it’s thick, heavy, and somehow rich with lots of blackcurrant, but it then comes across as rather alcoholic, with a port-like character. A late harvest doesn’t always pay off. Potential score: (17/20). 12: Dark garnet with a lilac shimmer. The bouquet is very sweet, showing hints of elderflower syrup and ripe blueberries. Firm, dense palate, quite a powerhouse; licorice and dark-chocolate bitterness on the finish, with mealy tannins lingering on the aftertaste.

Alcoholic, upfront, broad bouquet with cocoa powder, overripe fruit, Amarone-like. Broad, opulent, full-bodied palate with lush fruit, finely sandy tannins, powerful aromatics, burly structure and a long finish. Overdone/over-extracted. 17/20 2019 - 2030

Dense, compact, tannic, serious.

The nose is slightly cooked. Despite its richness, it finishes on rustic, tannic notes.
