The Power and Elegance of a Great Côtes de Provence Rosé
The Estate
Located in the heart of Provence, in the inland Var region, Château d'Esclans spans an estate of more than 260 hectares. The property's modern history truly began in 2006, when it was acquired by Sacha Lichine with the ambition of creating the world's greatest rosés. Since 2019, the LVMH group has held majority ownership, while Sacha Lichine has remained president. Certified HVE 3, the estate is today an essential global benchmark in the production of luxury rosés.
The Vineyard
Hailing from the prestigious Côtes de Provence appellation, the vineyard dedicated to this cuvée is located on the heights of La Motte. This wine comes from a single plot of very old Grenache vines, some of which are almost a century old, lending the grapes exceptional concentration and complexity.
Winemaking and Aging
The grapes are hand-harvested in the morning to preserve the freshness of the berries. After a rigorous optical sorting process and gentle crushing, the grapes are quickly chilled. Pressing takes place in a closed circuit to prevent oxidation, and only the free-run juice is kept. Fermentation and aging both take place entirely in new 600-litre French oak barrels for around eleven months, with regular lees stirring twice a week.
Grape Varieties
This wine is a blend of Grenache, the dominant variety, and Rolle.
