Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Tinus Grand Blanc Plateau de l'Aigle 2024 from Les Tourettes
Tasting
Appearance
The wine shows a brilliantly clear golden hue.
Nose
Remarkably complex and comforting, the bouquet opens with aromas of bread crust, orange zest, apricot jam and dried fig. With aeration, it evolves towards indulgent notes of sesame oil, hazelnut, lavender honey and white fruit coulis.
Palate
Dynamic and impressively broad, the palate is built around a spicy framework (saffron, Sichuan pepper) interwoven with citrus flavours such as orange and grapefruit. A subtle peppery touch lifts the mid-palate, leading to an astonishingly long finish marked by mineral resonance and spice notes.
Food and Wine Pairing
Made for generous, authentic cuisine, this white wine pairs wonderfully with salt cod brandade, andouillette sausage in mustard sauce served with split pea purée, a creamy chicken curry or a roasted monkfish medallion.
Serving and Cellaring
To fully enjoy the Tinus Grand Blanc Plateau de l'Aigle 2024, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 12 and 13°C, after about an hour of aeration in the bottle. This wine can be enjoyed now and will continue to develop favourably until around 2034.
The Elegance and Complexity of a Vin de France Crafted by Les Tourettes
The Estate
Acquired and completely reimagined in 1997 by Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens, Les Tourettes was born from the couple's desire to apply their immense Burgundian expertise to a high-altitude Provençal terroir that was then underestimated. Still run today by Jean-Marie Guffens, a visionary and nonconformist winemaker, the estate extends over 19 hectares. It stands out for its artisanal approach and complete artistic freedom, producing wines of exceptional quality that transcend regional conventions.
The Vineyard
This Vin de France comes from the lieu-dit "Plateau de l'Aigle", the highest terroir of the estate, rising to nearly 420 metres in altitude. Mostly north-facing, the vines, around 25 years old, benefit from cool nights and slow ripening. They thrive on soils particularly rich in limestone, farmed according to organic principles. The plant material comes from a meticulous massal selection, which promotes genetic diversity. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand.
The Vintage
The 2024 vintage was marked by a smaller Chardonnay harvest than in previous years, which led the estate to adjust the proportions of its blend for this particular year.
Winemaking and Ageing
The Tinus Grand Blanc Plateau de l'Aigle 2024 is the result of a drastic selection, using exclusively the first press juice. The Chardonnay and Viognier are fermented and aged in oak barrels (25 to 40% of which are new) for around eight months. The Chardonnay then continues its ageing in concrete tanks on fine lees for ten months. The Roussanne, for its part, is vinified and aged separately in concrete tanks on fine lees to protect it from oxidation, before the final blending.
Grape Varieties
This wine is a blend of Chardonnay, Roussanne and Viognier.
