Château Giscours 2015

Polished and rounded in feel, with a solid core of plum and blackberry compote flavors, lined with light hints of charcoal, tobacco and violet. Nice perfumy tobacco and warm tar notes show on the finish. Very well-integrated, making this approachable now, but there's no rush. Best from 2020 through 2035. 23,333 cases made.

94–96. Barrel Sample. This wine is firm and rich, with ripe black-plum flavors and dense tannins. Firm and concentrated, this is an impressive wine that will age well.

Deep, plush fruit which is hard to push through at first - it resists rather than giving way. There are layers of muscular fruit on the palate with some gorgeous touches of tobacco and charcoal. This is one to age - and to double-decant if you're thinking about opening it up in the next decade. 50% new oak.

Plenty of violets and dark berries on offer here. This has a striking sense of purity as well as an energetic, regal palate. The structure is impressively groomed with effortless depth and length. A standout wine. Try from 2022.

Vibrant, floral, elegant, youthful, and fresh, the red fruits are silky, pure, expressive, long, and refined. There is a nice depth to the finish. Drink from 2025-2050.

Deep ruby with purple reflections and discreet rim brightening. Dark berry confit, delicately tobacco, fine herbal savouriness and ripe plum in the background. Juicy, round and balanced, silky tannins, pronounced in fruit finish, elegant and lasting, a multi-faceted food companion with certain ageing potential.

Deep purple-garnet, dense in the centre, lilac hues on the rim. Intense nose, more spice than fruit, dark noble wood, rosewood and black tea notes. Very elegant on the palate, almost smooth in its flow thanks to particularly soft tannins, aromatic, long finish. A magnificent royal Giscours with the potential to gain an additional point as it matures.

Deep purple-garnet, dense in the centre, lilac shimmers on the rim. Intense bouquet, more spice than fruit, dark noble woods, rosewood and black tea notes. Very elegant palate, almost soft in its flow thanks to its particularly supple tannins, aromatic, long finish. A magnificent royal Giscours with the potential for an additional point with age.

A ton of espresso and cocoa bean grilling on the opening, softening through to damson, black cherry, orange peel, touch of heat and this needs longer in bottle to soften out the concentrated, slightly awkward tannins. Suggest giving this a few more years in bottle, because there is plenty of potential but not giving its best. 50% new oak for ageing. Harvest September 15 to October 10. Well-structured on solid yet refined material, it stands as a triumph of the vintage. The tannin structure is superb and the brilliance is there.

The colour is dark with blackberry notes. The wine is supple, charming with good depth and complexity in a style more Giscours than ever. A very fine wine that reconnects with the great style of yesteryear.

Harvest from September 15th to October 10th. Vinification in concrete and stainless steel tanks, 35 days maceration followed by 17 months ageing in barrels (50% new). The fullness of the bouquet opens beautiful expectations regarding the delights one can anticipate. This is confirmed on the palate where the wine combines width, charm and vigour. An inviting Giscours, early in its life, but already so good!

The nose is fine, elegant, mineral, silky, indulgent and displays a lovely grain, beautiful elegance as well as depth. You'll find delicate notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, wild strawberry and fresh/wild raspberry associated with hints of graphite, chocolate, fine touches of licorice and very subtle hints of Cuban pepper (in the background). The palate is fruity, balanced, juicy, pleasantly silky, airy and offers lovely definition, fine power, a lovely grain, smoothness, a nice acidity structure as well as finesse. On the palate this wine expresses notes of dark cherry and blackberry associated with delicate notes of raspberry, redcurrant, hints of cola, licorice stick as well as subtle touches of caramelized oak, chocolate/tonka bean and discreet hints of tea/vanilla. Good length.

Dark, intense and beautiful colour. Very aromatic nose, deep and once again complex. Precise on the attack, juicy mid-palate, very flavourful, the wine caresses the palate while lacking a little depth on the finish, even if the tannins are fine. Blend: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.
