Description
A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru by Château Grand Mayne
The estate
Château Grand Mayne is a great vessel in a sea of vines in the heart of the Saint-Émilion appellation. Established in the 15th century, the property did not produce wine until the 17th century. In the 18th century, the Laveau family elevated the vineyard and estate to the top of the appellation. In 1934, the Nony family took over the wine estate and undertook major renovations. Today, the Nony family, still at the helm of Château Grand Mayne continues to produce spectacular Bordeaux wines.
The vineyard
Planted on a clay-limestone hill and at the foot of a clay hill, the Château Grand Mayne vineyard covers 17 hectares, of which 14.5 are in production.
The winemaking
Harvest from September 23 to October 9. Vinification in oak vats and thermo-regulated stainless steel vats.
The ageing
Ageing in barrels for 18 months. 60% new oak barrels, 40% oak barrels of one previous wine.
The blend
Merlot (80%), cabernet franc (20%).
