Description

The aromatic expression of a biodynamic and typical red wine from Pessac-Léognan

The estate

Situated in the appellation of Pessac-Léognan, Château Haut-Bergey belongs to Sylviane Garcin. This Léognan estate has experienced a fantastic evolution over the past two decades thanks to the significant work carried out in the vineyard, in the vat room and in the winery. Château Haut-Bergey currently stands out for its powerful red wines and white wines that showcase the typical features of the Pessac-Léognan appellation.

The vineyard

Château Haut-Bergey's vineyard covers 65 hectares of which 42 hectares are planted on sandy-gravelly soils upon a clay subsoil, a characteristic of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The vineyard is managed in an organic and biodynamic manner and carries out grassing between the rows of vines, earthing and unearthing. The vineyard and wines of Château Haut-Bergey are Ecocert and Demeter certified. This Château Haut-Bergey 2021 red wine stems from a 15-hectare vineyard.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes are harvested by hand and then sorted successively. The vinification of this Château Haut-Bergey 2021 red wine is carried out in truncated stainless steel vats, which favours a gentle extraction. The wine is aged for 14 months in 3000 litre tuns, 300 litre barrels and 700 litre amphorae.

The blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (50%)

Merlot (20%),

Cabernet Franc (20%)

Petit Verdot (10%).
