Well-focused, with subtle minerality underneath the flavors of warmed cassis and gently mulled cherry fruit, infused with lilac and red tea hints. Stylish finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2024. 8,000 cases made, 500 cases imported.

James Suckling

A briary nose with forest wood and wild red berries, as well as a herbal and leafy edge. The palate has an attractive, fresh feel to the tannins and tart, tasty red-fruit flavors. Drink or hold.

Le Figaro Vin

Taut, juicy, elegant wine, suave, a hint of liquorice, with round, silky tannins and a long finish.

Yves Beck

With good intensity, the 2017 bouquet shows freshness and subtlety, with nuances of tea leaves, licorice, pepper, and dark fruits. Slightly creamy on the attack, the wine is carried by velvety tannins while the structure provides solid support. A flavorful wine, ready to drink yet offering good potential.

Description

The style of a grand Cru Bourgeois of Saint-Estephe

A Cru Bourgeois classified wine since 1932, Chateau Laffitte Carcasset is one of the surest values from the famous Saint-Estephe appellation in Medoc.

With wines of quality and consistency from recent years, the Chateau Laffitte Carcasset 2017 confirms its rank among the best Crus Bourgeois from the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region despite a challenging year.

A superb 18th century estate surrounded by a vineyard planted in the heart of the Garonne gravel plateau of Saint-Estephe, Chateau Laffitte Carcasset has been famous for its wines for over two centuries.

After Mr. Rousseau acquired the estate in 2016, this new vintage is under the banner of excellence and renewal. This is the first vintage produced under the guidance of consultant oenologist Hubert de Bouard and his team.

The numerous investments and work carried out in both the vineyard and in the winery undoubtedly contributed to defining the wine with an even more precise style and quality.

With a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (59%), complemented by Merlot (40%) and Cabernet Franc (1%), the Chateau Laffitte Carcasset 2017 brilliantly illustrates the excellence of the Medoc style. In order to preserve the purity of the fruit, ageing was carried out over a period of 12 months, which included 30% of the wine in new French oak barrels.
