Description
The elegance and the richness of a Saint-Julien red wine
The estate
Château Moulin Riche is located to the north-west of the Saint-Julien appellation. This property on Bordeaux’s Left Bank was acquired in 1920 by the Cuvelier family, who also own Châteaux Léoville Poyferré and Le Crock.
The vineyard
Château Moulin Riche looks after 20 hectares of vines in a single block, with an average age of 35 years. Composed of Graves garonnaises on sand and clay, this terroir lends an elegance and structure characteristic of the appellation. Originally the Second Wine of Château Léoville Poyferré, Château Moulin Riche has been a Saint-Julien Grand Vin since 2009.
Winemaking and ageing
Hand-picked in crates, the bunches are meticulously sorted in bunches, then by the grape. Semi-divided vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out using selected yeasts. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels (25% of which are new), as does ageing for 18 months.
Blend
Château Moulin Riche 2022 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (25%) and Petit Verdot (10%).
