Description

An ample Pessac-Léognan wine with a wonderful complexity

The estate

Nestling in a vast forest a stone's throw from Léognan in the Bordeaux region, Château Olivier cannot deny the richness of its past, reflected in its medieval architecture. Currently owned by the Bethmann family since 1886, this Graves Cru Classé has undergone major investment in both the vineyard and the winery.

The vineyard

A benchmark among the great wines of Pessac-Léognan, Château Olivier oversees a 52-hectare vineyard dedicated to red grape varieties. This terroir has been HVE level 3 and ISO 14001 certified since 2016.

The vintage

2022 began with a cold January, followed by a mild February. Budburst was slightly earlier than in other years. The frost at the beginning of April had very little impact on the vineyard. Although the warm weather and low rainfall in May advanced rapid and uniform flowering, it also caused water stress during the fruit set, resulting in small grapes. June was marked by high temperatures, offset by thunderstorms which replenished water reserves. The summer was hot and dry. The harvest was carried out under optimum conditions.

Blend

Merlot (49%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (45%)
Petit verdot (6%).
