Description
A red wine from Saint-Émilion, unveiled by Château Roylland
The estate
A Grand Cru of Saint-Émilion, Château Roylland takes its name from "La Lande du Roy,” meaning “Land of the King”. This property, founded at the time of Eleanor of Aquitaine, is close to some of the greatest estates of Saint-Émilion.
The vineyard
Managed with sustainable viticulture, the 5-hectare vineyard extends over the clay-loam and clay-sandy soils of Saint-Émilion. The vines are aged for 15 years on average.
The winemaking and ageing
Manual harvests in crates. Sorting at the vine, then before vatting. Vinification in thermoregulated stainless steel vats. Gentle extraction with light pump-overs so as to maintain the aromas of fruit and to obtain fine, silky tannins. Vatting for 20 to 24 days. Ageing for 12 months in French oak barrels. 50% new barrels.
Grape varieties
Château Roylland 2020 is made of a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%).
