Château Siran 2014

2014 Margaux from Bordeaux.

In 2014, Chateau Siran made the most of a shift in the climatic situation, in favour of a late yet good ripeness of the grapes. The harvest started on September 24th in Siran on the Margaux appellation and beautiful grapes rich in sugar, polyphenol and acidity were picked. The 2014 Siran is 53.5% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8.5% Petit Verdot. This charming wine expresses balsamic hints (exotic wood) blended in a clear and generous black fruit. The vibrant palate seduces by its denser than usual structure, organised around marked but creamy and fine tannins. The wine is fruity, particularly on finish.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2014 Siran has a very refined bouquet with blackberry, briary and light tertiary aromas. There is fine precision here, understated compared to the Sirans of old. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and a keen line of acidity. Linear in style and a little conservative towards the finish, but showing freshness from start to finish. Edouard Miailhe, proprietor of Siran, has really upped the ante here and this 2014 is just a classic Bordeaux claret that should drink well from the start, yet has the substance to suggest it will age with aplomb.
