Description

The balance and richness of a Piedmont red wine

The estate

Founded in 1982 by the winegrower Claudio Conterno and the oenologist Guido Fantino, Conterno Fantino is an unmissable name among the great wines of Piedmont. Located in the commune of Monforte d’Alba and certified in organic agriculture, the family estate oversees a terroir of 27 hectares of vines. Produced with the greatest respect for the environment, the wines of Conterno Fantino incorporate the delicateness and elegance of the illustrious terroirs of Barolo.

The vineyard

Barbera d'Alba "Vignota" 2021 from Conterno Fantino is a Piedmont wine made from vines located between 250 and 400 metres above sea level in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. Planted between 1980 and 1998, the vines face south-east and south-west on marl and limestone soils.

Winemaking and ageing

After harvests done by hand, alcoholic fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel vats for 6 to 8 days. This Barbera d'Alba wine was then aged in two-wine French oak barrels for a period of 10 months.
