The aromatic elegance of a great Port by Croft

The estate
Founded in 1588, the Croft House is one of the oldest wine-producing institutions in the Douro Valley. The eponymous family gave its name to the company in 1736. Today, this prestigious brand belongs to The Fladgate Partnership group, which acquired it in 2001. Under the technical direction of David Guimaraens, the estate perpetuates centuries-old expertise. Renowned for its aromatic and exotic style, the House relies on its historic jewel to craft Duriense wines of great richness, capable of developing remarkable complexity over time.

The vineyard
The grapes come exclusively from Quinta da Roêda, a historic estate located on the northern bank of the Douro River, just upstream from Pinhão. This exceptional terroir lies at the heart of the House's Port style. The vineyard is characterised by its old vines planted on traditional terraces, yielding fruit of great concentration that brings all its complexity to the blend.

The vintage
The growing cycle benefited from a warm development period, ideally supported by excellent water reserves in the soils. Subsequently, cooler weather conditions during the harvest allowed the berries to retain lovely freshness and optimal balance.

Vinification and ageing
The crafting of this Vintage Port 2024 relies on ancestral methods. The grapes from traditional field blends undergo co-fermentation. Extraction takes place in the estate's famous granite lagares, where foot treading is rigorously practised to achieve perfect structure and colour.

Grape varieties
A blend of traditional Douro grape varieties, including notably Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão and Tinta Amarela.
