The estate
Founded in 1879 by a former distiller, Domaine Albert Grivault is a historic estate located in the heart of Burgundy. The vineyard, covering around six hectares, extends across renowned terroirs of the Côte de Beaune. Today, the estate is run by the founder's descendants, Claire Bardet and Henri-Marc Bardet, who carry on an unbroken family heritage. The domaine stands out for its traditional, pared-back approach to winemaking, which seeks aromatic purity and tension. Domaine Albert Grivault is particularly renowned for its emblematic climats and its classic style.
The vineyard
The Clos du Murger plot lies in the centre of the village of Meursault. Enclosed by walls, it benefits from a microclimate sheltered from cold winds and a south-westerly exposure that promotes optimal ripening of the grapes. The vines, farmed using a highly sustainable approach to viticulture, thrive on soils of hard limestone from the central hillock and clay. The harvest is carried out by hand.
Vinification and ageing
The Meursault Village "Clos du Murger" 2024 is crafted through gentle pressing followed by alcoholic fermentation in oak barrels. The estate stands out for its rigorous control of the cellar temperature, maintained at around 16.5°C, allowing malolactic fermentation to take place naturally. The wine is aged in Burgundian pièces for around eleven months, with very limited bâtonnage in order to preserve its tension and minerality.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
