Abbatucci crafts a delicate, aromatic white wine

The estate
Situated at an altitude of more than 100 metres, Comte Abbatucci traces its origins back over a century. Through its cuvées, it pays tribute to illustrious members of the family (a general of the French Revolution, a diplomat, a minister under the reign of Napoleon III), whose destinies left their mark on the family's history. Committed to preserving this exceptional island terroir, the estate cultivates indigenous grape varieties that lend its wines a unique character.
Since 2000, the entire vineyard has been farmed biodynamically, in order to enhance the characteristics of a unique Corsican terroir while preserving an exceptional natural environment.

The vineyard
Produced as a Vin de France, the Diplomate d'Empire 2013 cuvée comes from a north to north-east facing vineyard, where the vines grow on granitic, sandy-loam soils.

Vinification and ageing
Harvested by hand, the grapes are rigorously sorted in the vineyard and then again in the cellar, before being directly pressed as whole bunches. After 24 to 48 hours of static settling, alcoholic fermentation takes place in 600-litre demi-muids.
Ageing on the full lees lasts 9 months and is followed by a further 2 months in tank after the best lots have been blended.
A final period of at least 6 months' ageing in bottle follows bottling, which is carried out with light filtration if necessary.

Blend
Abbatucci's Diplomate d'Empire 2013 is made from a blend of Vermentino, Brustiano, Bianco Gentile, Genovese and Rossola Bianca.

Tasting
Colour
The wine shows a lovely pale yellow colour.
Nose
The nose elegantly combines aromas of very ripe yellow fruit and exotic fruit with subtle scents of maquis.
Palate
The palate is seductive thanks to its natural freshness, which gives this wine power and length on the finish.
