Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Silice Rouge 2024 Domaine des Ardoisières
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a pale, luminous ruby hue, characteristic of red wines from cool climates.
Nose
The nose opens with delicate floral aromas of violet and peony, enhanced by spicy notes of black and white pepper. It then reveals a complex fruity bouquet blending raspberry, strawberry, cranberry and blackberry, all underpinned by subtle mineral touches reminiscent of chalk.
Palate
On the palate, the wine offers a fresh, tangy attack, carried by a fluid and particularly juicy texture. The tannins are fine and delicate. The mid-palate, dominated by redcurrant and cranberry flavours, extends into a medium-length finish, marked by a beautiful saline minerality.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine is particularly enjoyable as an aperitif accompanied by fine charcuterie. It also pairs beautifully with grilled meats such as pork chops or beef, poultry, as well as dishes featuring roasted mushrooms or semi-hard aged cheeses.
Service and storage
The Silice Rouge 2024 is a wine best enjoyed in its youth to appreciate its vibrant fruit and freshness. It can be drunk until around 2027.
The authentic and crisp expression of a red wine from Savoie
The estate
Founded in 1998 under the impetus of Michel Grisard, the Domaine des Ardoisières is a major player in the winegrowing revival in Savoie, France. Born from a collective project aimed at restoring the region's abandoned terraces, the estate quickly established itself thanks to its deep commitment to biodynamics and the preservation of indigenous grape varieties. Today, the estate is led by winemaker Brice Omont, alongside Jean-Marc Deglise-Favre as managing director. Together, they craft terroir-driven wines of great purity, elevating the estate to the pinnacle of alpine winemaking.
The vineyard
Born from a rigorous négociant activity, this wine comes from carefully selected plots in the terroirs of Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy and Fréterive. The vines, exposed to the south and west, thrive on soils marked by limestone influence. All the grapes purchased for this IGP Vin des Allobroges cuvée come exclusively from vineyards certified organic and farmed according to biodynamic principles, in perfect alignment with the estate's philosophy.
The vintage
The year's climatic conditions allowed for a moderate and balanced ripening of the berries, avoiding extreme concentration and preserving all the freshness typical of the alpine climate.
Winemaking and aging
The Silice Rouge 2024 harvest is fully destemmed before undergoing fermentation with indigenous yeasts, with no temperature control. Aging then takes place over seven months, split between concrete tanks, stainless steel tanks and neutral barrels, a method chosen to preserve the brightness of the fruit and the wine's liveliness.
Grape varieties
Pinot Noir (39%), Gamay (38%), Mondeuse Noire (23%).
