Description
A delicate and fruity IGP Côtes Catalanes wine
The estate
Voted Best Young Sommelier of France at the age of 21, Hervé Bizeul fell in love with the fairytale landscapes of the majestic Cirque de Vingrau, at the foot of the Pyrenees Orientales, in Roussillon. Restaurateur, writer and passionate for land and vine, Hervé Bizeul founded Domaine du Clos des Fées with his wife in 1997.
Over the years, Domaine du Clos des Fées has become a major name among the finest wine labels in Roussillon. Expressing the singularity of their terroir of origin, these exceptional vintages delight with their intensity and balance while having a great ageing capacity.
The vineyard
A major name among the great Roussillon wines, Domaine du Clos des Fées oversees a 30-hectare vineyard spread across 112 plots on a real mosaic of soils run in a sustainable manner.
The wine
Grenache Blanc Vieilles Vignes from Domaine du Clos des Fées is an IGP Côtes Catalanes wine produced from 100-year-old vines planted on a plot of 3.5 hectares in the commune of Opoul. This plot is placed at 300 metres of altitude on a clay-limestone soil. It is buffeted by wind for more than 250 days per year.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvests done by hand. Slow fermentation in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks for the Grenache Blanc and in five-wine barrels with stirring for the Grenache Gris. Aged on the lees for 8 months.
Blend
Grenache Blanc (94%)
Grenache Gris (6%) from mixed vineyards (Gris/Blanc/Noir).
