Domaine Olivier Pithon Wines : Key Points

Born into a family of winegrowers in the Loire, Olivier Pithon was introduced to the vine from an early age by his maternal grandfather. His older brother is none other than Jo Pithon, a highly reputed winemaker in the Coteaux du Layon. Olivier Pithon began his apprenticeship on the estate in Anjou at the age of 14. After a number of professional experiences in the world of wine, Olivier Pithon met Stéphane Derenoncourt, a leading oenologist and winemaker in the Bordeaux region, who introduced him to a different way of working the vines and making wine.

In early 2001, Olivier Pithon set off on his own, acquiring an 8.5-hectare vineyard in the commune of Calce, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Situated on an exceptional terroir at an altitude of 300 metres between the Mediterranean, the Pyrénées and the Corbières, the old vines of Domaine Olivier Pithon are planted on schist slopes. Domaine Olivier Pithon has been cultivated organically and biodynamically since 2010.

An emblematic reference in the Roussillon region, Domaine Olivier Pithon is renowned for its great wines, produced as IGP Côtes Catalanes and Côtes du Roussillon Villages from native grape varieties such as Macabeu, Grenache Gris and Blanc, Carignan, Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre. In a very personal style, the wines of Domaine Olivier Pithon offer an exceptional definition of the terroirs of the Pyrénées with frankness and a consistent expression.
