A full-bodied Beaujolais Red wine with delicate aromas
The estate
Created in the 18th century, the Domaine Louis Claude Desvignes is one of the oldest estates in Beaujolais. Today run by Claude-Emmanuelle and Louis-Benoît Desvignes, the eighth family generation, this estate located in Villié-Morgon spans 14.5 hectares. Certified organic since 2018, the estate favors wood-free winemaking and has historically refused to produce Beaujolais Nouveau in favor of exceptional age-worthy wines.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from the lieu-dit Pérou, located in the eastern part of the Morgon cru. The 0.74-hectare vineyard enjoys an eastern exposure on sandy and clay soils. The exceptional 92-year-old vines bring remarkable concentration and complexity to this Beaujolais wine.
Winemaking and aging
The traditional winemaking of the 2024 Pérou includes a 10% partial destemming and a 13-day maceration. The aging of this Morgon wine takes place over 7 months in cement tanks, thus preserving the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.
Grape variety
100% gamay, the emblematic grape variety of Beaujolais, expressed here with finesse and authenticity.
