The 2022 L'Esprit de Chevalier unfurls from the glass with aromas of cassis, mulberries, spices and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, textured and layered, it’s elegant and seamless with good depth at the core and youthful, delicate tannins. Concluding with a long, penetrating and ethereal finish, this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot is a real success.

Shows an enticing sense of freshness in the form of savory and violet details that gently infuse the core of warmed cassis and dark cherry paste. There's a subtle, leathery tug through the finish, which offers nice polish and a late iron twang. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2036. 8,000 cases made.

The 2022 L’Esprit de Chevalier is soft, supple and inviting—in other words, everything a second wine should be. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, mint, spice and white pepper are nicely delineated. There's lovely energy here.

Flowers, tobacco, wet earth, and smoke add to the red-fruit profile. Medium-bodied, elegant, vibrant, and fruity, with just a touch of espresso accompanying the fruits on the mid-palate and in the finish. This is perfect for ordering in restaurants or cafés thanks to its ready-to-drink character. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. Drink from 2025–2035.

Deep ruby, purple reflections, subtle ochre rim. Ripe sweet red cherries, fine herbal savouriness, some nougat, light tobacco nuances. Medium body, fine fruit expression, integrated ripe tannins, mineral, good grip and already very drinkable, has good ageing potential.

The 2022 L'Esprit De Chevalier offers a spicy, complex profile with a supple, rounded texture and an elegant, balanced character. Medium to full-bodied with fine tannins and an undeniably delicious style, it’s clearly worth buying and enjoying over the coming decade or so.

Charming, with lift and well-defined dark fruits, chalky tannins, a touch of cassis bud, just not quite the balance of Domaine de la Solitude, which would be my pick of the two sibling estates.

On the nose, a basket of summer red and purple fruits delivers a pure bouquet, vibrant with bucolic energy. The same purity comes through on the palate: the wine is fluid, natural, and caressing.

The nose is closed at first but reveals indulgence and juicy fruit after aeration. It shows notes of ripe wild strawberry, crushed blackcurrant, morello cherry, roasted red cherry and cherry jam, combined with a pleasant bitterness of cocoa, almond and coffee, spiced hints of liquorice, a touch of dried vanilla and white pepper, as well as a pleasant hint of peony after aeration. The palate is juicy, airy, indulgent and fresh, with juicy fruit on the attack (ripe wild strawberry, crushed blackcurrant, morello cherry, roasted red cherry), a fine bitterness of bird cherry, along with a herbal touch of dried mint, the indulgence of liquorice, dark chocolate and coffee on the finish. Concentration, freshness and indulgence.
