Markus Molitor releases a fresh and intensely aromatic German white wine
The estate
Markus Molitor is an estate in the Mosel, Germany, named after its founder. Markus Molitor took over his father's exceptional wine house in 1984 at the age of 20. He represents the eighth generation of his family to cultivate wine. It was he who gave his name to the estate, reflecting his ambition to restore Mosel Riesling to its former glory.
The vineyard
Made from 80-year-old vines, Wehlen Riesling is one of the finest in the Mosel. This vineyard is characterised by a terroir whose slate composition gives the wine its mineral and complex character.
Winemaking and ageing
Following late harvests in the month of November, the grapes were macerated then fermented in wooden barrels with wild yeasts. The wine was then aged for a long time on its lees.
