Domaine de la Garenne
The history of Domaine de la Garenne is relatively recent. It was founded in 1987, following the work of a visionary mayor, who convinced some investors and winemakers to cultivate a previously abandoned limestone wasteland, located above a prehistoric cave. Owned by the Beaumont family, Domaine de la Garenne became one of the Domaines Devillard in 2008, following the wedding of Pauline Beaumont and Amaury Devillard. These are, therefore, 4 properties distributed between Aurore and Amaury Devillard, namely Chateau de Chamirey, Domaine des Perdrix, Domaine de la Ferté and Domaine de la Garenne.
Located in Aze, Domaine de la Garenne produces marvelous Burgundy wines in the Macon-Aze et Pouilly-Fuisse appellations. Their wines are made with 100% Chardonnay, grown on a property that expands over around 7 hectares. This area, which has enjoyed an excellent reputation in recent years, is quickly becoming one of the best names in Southern Burgundy. The 2010 vintage of Domaine de la Garenne wine was even ranked among the top ten Chardonnay wines from all of Burgundy by the very famous publication, Decanter.
