An intense and expressive Japanese single malt from the Yuza distillery
Yuza distillery: Japanese artisanal excellence
Founded in 2018 in the Yamagata region in northeastern Japan, the Yuza distillery embodies the "TLAS" (Tiny, Lovely, Authentic and Supreme) philosophy, inherited from sake tradition. Located near Mount Chokai, it uses pure waters from the local stream to produce premium Japanese whiskies. Owned by local master distillers who prioritize quality over quantity, Yuza stands out for its traditional maturation in bourbon casks, although some special editions explore sherry casks. This artisanal approach gives its single malts a unique signature, combining Japanese authenticity with technical excellence in the world of contemporary Japanese whisky.
Magazine IB Japanese Craft Collection: an exceptional collaboration
This Yuza Single Malt is part of the prestigious Magazine IB Japanese Craft Collection, the result of a collaboration between Hua Yang and Whisky Magazine in 2022. This exclusive series showcases Japanese craftsmanship with independent bottlings from craft distilleries, including a Chichibu 7-year-old, a Yuza 7-year-old and a Sakuro 3-year-old. Unlike Yuza's usual practice of favoring bourbon casks, this special edition benefited from maturation in sherry casks, giving this Japanese whisky its unique character.
