Tavel

Tavel image

Tavel is an appellation in the Rhône Valley created in 1937 that covers over 900 hectares only in the town of Tavel. The vines enjoy a Mediterranean climate and grow in alluvium, sand, marl-limestone and gravel-limestone soil. The Tavel appellation produces only rosé wines from various blends consisting of Grenache (the main grape variety) and other secondary grape varieties (Cinsault, Bourboulenc, Clairette, Mourvèdre, Picpoul, Syrah, Carignan, Calitor). Tavel rosé wines develop red fruit aromas that evolve into stone fruit and almond scents as they age. They show depth, roundness and a great power, and offer tasty spicy touches.
