A noble and legendary red wine from Penedès

The Mas La Plana 1970 vintage has become a legendary one that displays all the excellence of Bodega Torres that the world has come to expect from it. With glowing reviews and awards from critics, Mas La Plana illustrates all the typicality of Cabernet Sauvignon from a unique terroir in the heart of the Penedès D.O. (Denominación de Origen).

The 29-hectare Mas La Plana vineyard is located in Catalonia in the north part of Spain. The vines grow in deep, well-drained alluvial soils that allow them to flourish under the best growing conditions.

The Mas La Plana 2012 seduces the eyes with its intensity and depth of its dark colour. The intense, elegant aromatic bouquet comes to shape with its complexity of aromas like ripe black berry, which typifies Cabernet Sauvignon’s role in the wine. On the palate, the mouthfeel reveals the wine’s generous personality through elegance, well-structured silky tannins and ampleness. This symbolic vintage is from a bodega with a family soul at its core, and the Mas La Plana 2012 continues to keep the legend of Bodega Torres alive.

    Parker : 93 / 100
    Wine Advocate-Parker :
I had two vintages to taste side by side of the top Cabernet Sauvignon from Penedès, produced with grapes from the same 29 hectares of estate vineyards that name the wine. The 2012 Mas La Plana fermented in stainless steel and matured in French barriques (70% new) for 18 months. It was an extremely dry year, even if the end of the season was not particularly warm, but the wines are a little more concentrated. It felt fresher than the 2011, pretty balsamic and minty, but with notes of Mediterranean herbs too. The palate is neatly balanced, and there is no alcohol or heat to be found. It has fine tannins and nicely integrated oak. Very pleasant. 105,180 bottles and 641 magnums produced.
