Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the "Angels' Share" Shiraz 2024 Two Hands

Tasting

Color
The color reveals a deep, dark red hue, illuminated by a core with violet reflections.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with vibrant notes of blueberry, plum and blackberry, enhanced by touches of dried violet petals and soft woody spices. Subtle nuances of cinnamon, nutmeg, tobacco and cocoa add complexity to the whole.

Palate
Full-bodied and velvety, the palate offers generous flavors of black and red fruits reminiscent of cherry and plum, evolving toward notes of dark chocolate. The tannic structure, with a beautiful chalky texture, supports a flavorful mid-palate with hints of licorice and black pepper, extending into a juicy, lingering finish.

Food and wine pairing

This Australian red wine pairs wonderfully with grilled or barbecue-smoked meats, such as a peppered steak or lamb chops. It also perfectly accompanies slow-cooked dishes, duck breast, vegetarian recipes featuring mushrooms or eggplant, as well as mature, flavorful cheeses.

Service and storage

To reveal its full complexity, we recommend decanting or aerating this "Angels' Share" Shiraz 2024 before serving. It can be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve favorably until around 2030.

The fruity, spicy elegance of a McLaren Vale Shiraz

The estate

Founded in September 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz, the Two Hands estate produced its first vintage in 2000. Located in Southern Australia, the estate has made it its mission to showcase the regional diversity of Australian Shiraz. Today, the estate is led by Michael Twelftree and Pierre-Henri Morel, co-owner and managing director. Renowned worldwide for its minimal-intervention approach and exacting quality standards, Two Hands combines the cultivation of its own vineyards with a négociant philosophy, selecting the finest fruit to craft wines of great authenticity.

The vineyard

The grapes for this cuvée come from the McLaren Vale region, located about a hundred kilometers south of the Barossa Valley. This terroir is distinguished by its Mediterranean climate with maritime influence, bringing a subtle freshness that allows the berries to maintain a perfect balance despite a fine aromatic concentration.

The vintage

This year's growing cycle was shaped by the region's highly particular and distinctive climatic conditions, allowing for optimal berry development under the watchful eye of the vineyard teams.

Winemaking and aging

The making of the "Angels' Share" Shiraz 2024 follows a philosophy of minimal intervention. The fruit undergoes careful hand selection and hand harvesting. Vinification takes place in open fermenters with basket-press pressing. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for a period ranging from twelve to twenty-four months, according to a rigorous barrel classification.
