The elegance and freshness of a white wine from Bandol
The estate
Founded in 2002 by Gregory Hecht and François Bannier, who still run the company today, Maison Hecht & Bannier is a renowned négociant-éleveur in the South-East of France. Based in Aix-en-Provence, the company stands out for its rigorous selection of the finest Mediterranean terroirs. A pioneer in environmental commitment, it is the first wine entity in its region to obtain B Corp certification. It is with this same commitment to quality and respect for nature that the Villa Madeleine cuvée is crafted, a true showcase of the estate’s expertise.
The vineyard
The grapes come from the Bandol appellation, more precisely from plots located in the communes of Evenos and Le Castellet. The vines thrive on restanques, traditional terraces facing east and south-east. This clay-limestone terroir benefits from optimal sunshine and the refreshing influence of sea breezes, ensuring ideal ripening of the berries.
The vintage
The year 2024 in the South-East of France was marked by contrasting weather conditions. A mild winter was followed by a rainy spring, replenishing soil water reserves while requiring particular attention to fungal pressure. The return of typically Mediterranean summer conditions then promoted optimal ripening, producing berries of great finesse and freshness.
Winemaking and aging
The Villa Madeleine Blanc 2024 harvest is carried out by hand, allowing for rigorous sorting in the vineyard and then in the cellar. The grapes are fully destemmed before undergoing a twenty-four-hour maceration, followed by pressing. Aging then takes place on fine lees in stainless steel and concrete tanks.
Grape varieties
This wine is a blend of clairette (55%), ugni blanc (35%), and rolle (10%).
