Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for Pour Vous 2022 by Vincent Gaudry
Tasting
Color
A golden color with shining highlights.
Nose
The nose is expressive, developing aromas of ripe, juicy fruits reminiscent of a Bourdaloue tart. A background of mild spices and fine reduction completes the picture, requiring gentle aeration to reveal its full complexity.
Palate
The attack is smooth with a remarkably creamy texture. The expansive mid-palate recalls pear macerated in eau-de-vie, unfolding power and ending on an unexpected, underlying freshness. The finish oscillates between power and restrained freshness, leaving an impression of linearity characteristic of great terroirs.
Food and wine pairing
This cuvée pairs excellently with noble fish in sauce, poultry in cream sauce, and aged goat cheese. It also goes very well with mushroom dishes and recipes with mild spices.
Service and storage
The Pour Vous 2022 is best served at 10–12°C. Although enjoyable now, this wine would benefit from some rest to express its full potential. Drink until approximately 2030.
A generous Sancerre with beautiful precision
The estate
Founded in 1993, when Vincent Gaudry took over the family business at just 16 years old, this Loire estate spans 9 hectares in Sury-en-Vaux near Sancerre. Vincent Gaudry follows a pioneering biodynamic approach, Demeter certified since 2004, on three emblematic terroirs: Silex, Terres blanches and Caillottes. His Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir vines are over 40 years old on average and are replanted via massal selection from century-old plots.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from the "Les Vignes blanches" plot in Sury-en-Vaux on a clay-limestone terroir. The vines, over half a century old, benefit from a privileged exposure that allows the Sauvignon to express all the minerality characteristic of this Sancerre terroir.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage was marked by favorable weather conditions that allowed for a slow and steady ripening of the grapes. This year offered a remarkable balance between aromatic concentration and preservation of freshness, producing wines of great complexity.
Winemaking and aging
Hand harvesting respects the optimal ripeness of the grapes. The vinification of Pour Vous 2022 follows the tradition of the last century with fermentation in oak barrels. Aging also takes place for two years in barrels in the estate's cellars. Bottling is carried out according to traditional methods, without filtration or fining, directly from the barrel using a two-spout "chèvre".
Grape variety
This white wine from the Loire is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc from vines that are over half a century old.
