Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Grüner Veltliner Loibner Federspiel 2025 from Weingut Emmerich Knoll
Tasting notes
Appearance
The wine shows a limpid, pale yellow colour enhanced by delicate green highlights.
Nose
The nose reveals a precise, fruity bouquet, with aromas of pear, yellow apple and white peach. These are lifted by citrus notes and a subtle smoky touch.
Palate
Bright and refreshing, the palate charms with its silky texture and juicy character. Carried by lively acidity and taut minerality, it stretches towards a finish marked by discreet peppery notes.
Food and wine pairings
Remarkably versatile, this white wine is an ideal match for freshwater fish such as trout or pike-perch, roast poultry and vegetarian dishes. It also pairs beautifully with platters of fine charcuterie or light starters.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this wine, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 9 and 10°C. Approachable in its youth, it has the cellaring potential to evolve favourably until around 2035.
The Elegance and Freshness of a White Wine from the Wachau by Weingut Emmerich Knoll
The estate
Located in Unterloiben in Lower Austria, Weingut Emmerich Knoll is an essential reference. The family's winemaking history began in 1825, when they settled here, although systematic bottling only started in 1947. Today, the sixth generation, represented by the brothers August and Emmerich junior, runs this estate of approximately 19.5 hectares. Recognisable by its famous Baroque label depicting Saint Urban, the estate stands out for its commitment to tradition and its ecological approach. It produces age-worthy wines that combine power and minerality.
The vineyard
This wine comes from vines located in the eastern part of the Wachau, within the Loiben basin. The vines are planted on the lower terraces close to the Danube, on alluvial soils made up of gravel, sand and sediments. Vineyard work follows a sustainable farming approach, with harvesting carried out exclusively by hand.
Vinification and ageing
Crafted with a minimal-intervention approach and without chaptalisation, this wine is fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and large traditional wooden foudres. This meticulous ageing highlights the mineral framework while preserving the aromatic purity of the fruit.
Grape variety
Grüner Veltliner (100%).
