Description
2016 Caillou Blanc Château Talbot: a white Bordeaux wine with a complex aromatic palette
Caillou Blanc is the white wine from Château Talbot and is a Fourth Classified Growth of 1855. This wine from the Bordeaux Blanc appellation comes from a 5-hectare vineyard. The vines have an average age of 47-years-old and they are planted in Médoc gravel. The wine is aged in barrels (47% in new barrels) and on it lees and with stirring for 8 months. The Caillou Blanc 2016 blend consists mostly of Sauvignon Blanc and complemented with Sémillon.
The first part of the summer was humid while the second part was marked with heat and drought. Because of the drought and the frequent maintenance of the plots, the vines rooted deeply into the soil to tap its water and mineral needs. The harvest was quite late from September 19 to 21.
The Sémillon gives the wine a superb concentration. The Caillou Blanc 2016 Château Talbot combines freshness and an aromatic palette of great complexity.
