Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Thiénot Vintage 2015

Tasting

Appearance
This champagne reveals a pale straw hue, subtly illuminated by soft golden reflections.

Nose
Particularly expressive, the bouquet unveils generous aromas of orchard fruits such as apple and ripe pear, enhanced by a delicate touch of bergamot.

Palate
Both fresh and fleshy, the palate confirms the fruity flavours perceived on the nose, while revealing subtle citrus nuances. The whole extends into an elegant finish of beautiful length.

Food and wine pairings

Ideal to accompany a meal, this wine pairs wonderfully with white meats in sauce, such as poultry in cream sauce or a veal chop served with Mediterranean vegetables. It also enhances shellfish, soft cheeses and milk-based desserts.

Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate the Vintage 2015, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 7 and 9 °C. With fine ageing potential, this wine can be enjoyed until around 2029.

A vintage champagne combining richness and freshness

The estate

Founded in 1985 by Alain Thiénot, this independent family house quickly established itself in the Champagne region. Today, the founder and his children, Garance and Stanislas, lead the estate. The property draws on a vineyard of about thirty hectares, mostly classified as grands and premiers crus. Cultivating a modern and sustainable vision, the brand stands out for its qualitative demands and creativity. The management team, along with cellar master Nicolas Uriel, crafts precise wines that reflect the excellence of their terroirs.

The vineyard

The grapes selected for this cuvée come from renowned terroirs of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, notably including the villages of Avize and Chouilly. Sourcing is based on a rigorous selection composed of 19% grands crus and 45% premiers crus from Champagne.

Vinification and ageing

The making of the Vintage 2015 takes place entirely in stainless steel tanks in order to preserve all the energy and purity of the fruit. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to bring an additional touch of roundness. Finally, this wine benefits from a long ageing of seven years on the lees in the estate's Reims cellars, sheltered from the light, giving it great aromatic complexity.

Grape varieties

This wine comes from a blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Meunier.
