Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for the Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Mouches" Domaine 2022, Chanson

Tasting

Appearance
The wine displays a beautiful ruby color.

Nose
The nose opens with floral fragrances of rose, accompanied by notes of red fruits (strawberry, cherry, redcurrant). Hints of pepper and vanilla round out this aromatic bouquet.

Palate
On the palate, this wine charms with its complexity and balance. The structure is clearly present, with a deep, tightly knit texture. The tannins are refined and the oak is perfectly integrated. The long, spicy finish pleasantly extends the tasting.

Food and wine pairings

This Beaune 1er cru "Clos des Mouches" Domaine 2022 is an ideal match for red meats and dishes in sauce such as boeuf bourguignon. It also pairs beautifully with characterful cheeses such as Brillat-Savarin, Citeaux, Langres, or Époisses.

An iconic Premier Cru from the Côte de Beaune

The estate

Founded in 1750 by Simon Verry in Beaune, Chanson is one of the oldest wine houses in Burgundy. Owned by the Bollinger group since 1999 and led by Vincent Avenel since 2017, it farms 88 hectares spread across the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise. Certified organic since 2024 for its Côte de Beaune vineyards, Chanson stands out for its 15th-century Bastion and its monopole of Clos des Fèves.

The vineyard

Clos des Mouches is an exceptional terroir located on the slopes of Mont Saint-Désiré, with a southeast exposure and bordering the Premiers Crus of Pommard. Chanson’s parcel covers a total of 4.3 hectares, including 2.5 hectares planted with pinot noir. The vines grow on clay-limestone marls, a soil that gives the wine its structure and complexity, characteristic of this prestigious climat of Bourgogne.

The vintage

The 2022 vintage in Beaune was marked by a hot summer punctuated by heatwaves. Beneficial rainfall at the end of August allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. Harvesting took place from August 30 to September 13. This vintage is characterized by generous volumes and excellent quality, with balanced, fruit-forward wines.

Grape variety

Pinot noir (100%).
