Decanter

Such a gorgeous fragrance on the nose, so alive, so floral and expressive with milk chocolate, cherries and violets. Grippy and alive in the mouth, fun, bright, certainly full of tannins and grip with a lovely core of black bramble fruit with straight acidity. I like the very hands-off nature, it’s refined and finessed, still young and a little shy but lots of tannins are so well handled by the fruit purity and acidity. It’s a big, powerful, muscular wine but so poised, mouthwatering and charming. It has a spiced kick on the finish which adds to the complexity. 3.6pH. 80 IPT. 13% press wine. 60% of production. Reduced maceration by 5-7 days. Ageing 70% new oak

The floral bouquet is what you initially notice; from there, your attention quickly turns to its array of red and black fruits, licorice, tobacco, mint leaves, and cedar. The palate is elegant, silky, creamy, fresh, and concentrated. It takes just a second to sense the wealth of fruit on the palate, with vibrancy, refinement, and purity. The finish continues along the same path, with layers of perfectly ripe fruit, a touch of salinity, and hints of licorice, espresso, and cocoa. Clearly, this is among the best wines in the estate's history. If you allow it a few years in the bottle before pulling a cork, it will be even better and should provide you with pleasure for two or more decades with ease. The wine is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. 13.4% ABV, pH 3.6. The harvest took place from September 5 to September 20. This marks the earliest harvest vintage in the estate's history. Yields were 31 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2030-2065. 96-98 Pts

Hints of fresh oak provide a solid backbone to Beychevelle’s bouquet, showcasing its complexity through aromas of dark berries, licorice, graphite, mint, and even floral notes. Smooth on the attack, the wine is driven by powerful, precise tannins. They are fleshy, elegant, perfectly integrated, and provide structure as well as energy. The fruit expression gathers momentum across the palate, supported by fine bitters that enliven the finish and lengthen the finale.

Deep black color. Intense nose with ripe, creamy fruit. Delicate on the attack, suave through the mid-palate with a fine texture and plenty of flavor, with also a slight softness; the wine pulls itself together on the finish, lingering on notes of black fruit, blackberries, and licorice. Good length. Blend: 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Alcohol: 13.5%. Yield: 32 hl/ha.

Vinum

Subtle and reductive, with ripe dark fruit, graphite, floral notes and blood orange; on the palate it’s juicy and well structured, with excellent acidity and plenty of spice. The tannins only show up right at the back of the palate, carrying the wine into a long finish. A classic Beychevelle that wonderfully captures this warm yet fresh vintage.

Description

Tasting notes and characteristics of Château Beychevelle 2025

Tasting

Appearance
The wine displays a deep, dark colour with an opaque core, enhanced by almost black highlights.

Nose
The bouquet reveals an alluring aromatic profile, mainly dominated by notes of ripe black fruits, elegantly intertwined with hints of black cherry, wild blackberry, as well as spices and rose.

Palate
This wine offers a generous, fruit-driven attack. The mid-palate reveals a fine tannic structure combined with a silky texture, supported by a fresh finish and woody nuances characteristic of its youth.

Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs ideally with grilled or roasted red meats, such as beef and lamb. It also wonderfully accompanies full-flavoured poultry such as duck, mushroom or truffle dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses.

Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this vintage, serving at around 16 to 17 °C is recommended, along with moderate decanting in its youth. It has excellent cellaring potential of at least ten years, with the ability to evolve favourably over several decades.

The elegance of a great Saint-Julien by Château Beychevelle

The estate
Built in 1565, Château Beychevelle is an iconic estate of Bordeaux, located in the Médoc. The property covers 250 hectares, including 90 hectares of vines. Today, the estate belongs to Grands Millésimes de France, owned in equal shares by the Castel and Suntory groups. Operational management is led by Philippe Blanc, while Aymar de Baillenx chairs the structure. Famous for its legend of the "Lower the Sails" and its ship emblem, this Fourth Growth from the 1855 Classification stands out for its classical architecture and sumptuous gardens.

The vineyard
Located at the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, the vineyard flourishes on particularly well-drained Garonne gravel mounds. The proximity of the Gironde estuary offers a temperate microclimate that protects the vines from temperature extremes. The estate is committed to responsible and sustainable viticulture, paying close attention to every plot in order to preserve biodiversity and express the full richness of this exceptional terroir.

Winemaking and aging
The crafting of this vintage is part of the estate's tradition of excellence. The wine is aged in oak barrels, a method that allows the woody notes to harmoniously integrate with the fruit, while refining the tannic structure to ensure a beautiful balance. Alcohol: 13.5% vol.

Grape varieties
This wine is made from a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
