Description

A harmonious and refined great red wine from Haut-Médoc

The estate

Owned since 2005 by the Merlaut family, managed by Céline Villars Foubet and Jean-Pierre Foubet, Château Camensac is an estate founded in the 18th century in the Haut-Médoc appellation. This 5th Grand Cru Classé of 1855 was the subject of significant investments, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, which enabled the estate to be equipped with the best equipment. Château de Camensac now stands out as an important Bordeaux reference, offering fantastic value for price.

The vineyard

An unmissable name in Haut-Médoc, the Château de Camensac vineyard comprises 25 hectares of vines. The vines are planted in two different types of soil: the Gunzian gravel found in Saint-Julien and the Graffernian gravel found in Pessac-Léognan. It is from these two types of soil that give the wines of Château de Camensac their unique character.

The vintage

Although the very rainy winter slowed down the growth cycle, the heat recorded at the end of April led to a rapid development of the vineyard's leaf surface. The pressure of mildew affected a few berries before being stopped by the effect of a dry summer. A meticulous sorting was carried out at the reception of the harvest in order to keep only the high quality grapes and produce a particularly delicate vintage.

Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (50%)
Merlot (50%).

Characteristics and tasting tips for Château de Camensac 2018

Tasting

Colour
The wine has a superb shining, dark red colour.

Nose
Precise and aromatic, the nose opens with lovely redcurrant and raspberry notes. Movement unveils subtle scents of flowers, wood and vanilla.

Palate
The frankness of the attack in the mouth immediately reveals the refined structure of the tannins, coated and very supple. The mid-palate highlights the delicious fruity and floral notes. In harmony and delicacy, the length of the finish is prolonged with gorgeous scents evoking redcurrant jelly.

Storage

This Haut-Médoc wine can be enjoyed from 2025 onwards, while having the necessary structure to develop perfectly until 2045.
