Description
A complex and balanced Graves red wine
The estate
Founded in 1966, Château de Chantegrive is part of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux. This family-owned estate, situated in the Graves region, is managed in an integrated manner. With great passion and precision, the estate produces wines that are an essential and must-know reference in the Bordeaux region.
The vineyard
Château de Chantegrive 2021 is a Graves wine made from a 36-hectare vineyard that spreads over 160 plots in the heart of the Graves region. The vines are around twenty years old and are planted on a terroir composed of gravel, pebbles and fine sand on clay-limestone soil. The estate bears a High Environmental Value level 3 certificate.
The vintage
The year 2021 was marked by a major frost in April, which mainly affected the Merlot grapes. The Cabernet Sauvignon vines benefited from a dry and cool month of October, ideal conditions for refining the ripeness levels.
Vinification and ageing
Cold pre-fermentation maceration for 7 to 10 days. Alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. Post-fermentation maceration for 7 days. Aged for 12 months exclusively in barrels (50% new barrels).
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (65%)
Merlot (35%).
