The elegance and mineral freshness of a white wine from Provence
The estate
Located in Pourcieux, in the heart of Provence, the Château des Ferrages began its winemaking activity in 1980 under the impetus of José Garcia. This 28-hectare estate quickly built a strong reputation before being acquired in 2016 by the renowned Maison M. Chapoutier, guided by the vision of Mathilde Chapoutier. Today, the property retains its unique identity while integrating the philosophy of its new owner, notably through a gradual conversion to biodynamic viticulture to enhance the authentic expression of its terroirs.
The vineyard
The vineyard stretches across the plain, between Montagne Sainte-Victoire and Mont Aurélien, within the Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire appellation. The vines grow on shallow, well-drained clay-limestone and sandy soils. Reaching altitudes ranging from 300 to 640 meters, this terroir benefits from a Mediterranean climate nuanced by a continental influence. This natural freshness allows for slow ripening of the berries, essential for preserving the balance of the wines.
Winemaking and aging
To preserve all the aromatic freshness of the berries, the grapes for the Les Infirmières 2016 cuvée are harvested by hand in the morning. In the cellar, direct pressing is carried out, followed by light settling to extract the best of the juice. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place in barrels, giving this Provence wine remarkable structure and complexity while preserving its natural vibrancy.
Grape variety
This wine is made from clairette.
