Description
The Elegance and Velvety Texture of a Moulin-à-Vent by Château du Moulin-à-Vent
The estate
Dating back to 1732 in Romanèche-Thorins, in the heart of the Beaujolais vineyards, Château du Moulin-à-Vent is a historic reference in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation. Acquired in 2009 by the Parinet family, the estate is now run by Édouard Parinet, together with oenologist Brice Laffond. Located entirely within the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, it covers approximately 30 hectares of granitic soils, which have been farmed organically for several years and will be certified organic from the 2024 vintage.
The vineyard
The La Rochelle cuvée comes from an emblematic lieu-dit, one of the many terroirs that Château du Moulin-à-Vent showcases within the Moulin-à-Vent appellation. It expresses the granitic terroir unique to this sector, as part of a conversion to organic farming that culminates in certification from this vintage onwards.
Vinification and ageing
La Rochelle 2024 is crafted in keeping with the philosophy of Château du Moulin-à-Vent, which favours traditional vinification and gentle extraction in order to preserve the purity of the Gamay fruit. Ageing is carried out with a moderate use of oak, designed to support the structure of the wine without masking the expression of the granitic terroir.
Grape varieties
La Rochelle 2024 from Château du Moulin-à-Vent is 100% Gamay.
