Description
An aromatic and elegant Vin de France white wine
The estate
The Château du Tertre is a Fifth Growth (Cru Classé) of Margaux located on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. Since its acquisition at the end of 1997 by Eric Albada Jelgersma, considerable investments have been made to enhance this exceptional terroir, renowned for its rare consistency. Château du Tertre has been operated since January 2021 by the Helfrich family, who manage the wine merchant company Les Grands Chais de France.
The vineyard
Produced as a Vin de France, Château du Tertre blanc 2020 comes from a 3.86-hectare vineyard. The terroir, made up of light gravel and deep sands, helps preserve— even in hot, dry conditions— a freshness that is characteristic of this wine’s signature.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested grapes. Manual and optical sorting. Crushed grapes, not destemmed. Inert pressing with selection of the first press juices. Fermentation is carried out for the first third in stainless-steel tanks, then in barrels. Aging lasts 6 months in 225-liter and 500-liter barrels. Aging on lees is accompanied by lees stirring once a week.
Blend
Château du Tertre blanc 2020 is a blend of Gros Manseng (20%), Chardonnay (27%), Sauvignon Blanc (33%) and Viognier (20%).
Tasting
Nose
The nose authentically expresses the characteristics of each grape variety in the blend. Sauvignon Blanc reveals, with elegance, tension and complexity, notes of boxwood and fresh mint. The honey and acacia blossom fragrances of Chardonnay mingle with the mouthwatering saline edge typical of Gros Manseng, along with the delicate floral notes from Viognier.
Palate
Lively and mouthwatering, the palate captivates with its persistence, rich aromatic expression and zesty texture.
