Château Duhart-Milon 2022

The 2022 Duhart-Milon is showing beautifully, bursting from the glass with aromas of mulberries, blackcurrants, pencil shavings and rose petal. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and textural, it's sweet and layered, with a gourmand core of fruit underpinned by powdery tannins and lively acids. A decade ago, Duhart could be a somewhat austere wine, but today it's much more integrated and harmonious. The 2022 is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot.

A deep, dark nose of blackcurrants and black cherries, accented by tobacco, cola, and violets. Pure and precise, this makes an immediate impact with its exceptional texture—heavier than Moulin, with more structured, pillowy tannins that cushion the palate. The broad mouthfeel is beautifully balanced by vibrant acidity that carries the wine seamlessly from start to finish. Dark fruit, integrated spice, and a long, fresh finish create a complete and sophisticated expression. Characterful, seamless, and impeccably balanced, this is an irresistible wine that leaves you wanting more. Elegant yet powerful, with depth and precision. Simply excellent.

Lush, rich, round, ripe, and refined, the wine jumps in with its vivid display of graphite, flowers, red, with black currants, and black cherries in the aromatic profile. The palate is refined, precise, and, most importantly, poised as it finishes with its ripe, sweet, fresh, cherry, and currant profile. The wine is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon with 22% Merlot. Drink from 2027-2050.

Dark ruby in colour with an opaque core, purple reflections, and subtle brightening on the rim. On the nose, an attractive bouquet with delicate fine oak spice, dark nougat, blackberry, cassis, and some bourbon vanilla. The palate is complex, juicy, yet very elegant, with ripe berry fruit, fresh, sweet cherry, integrated, ripe tannins, and a fine chocolatey touch on the persistent, delicately saline finish, a great achievement, already very seductive. The 2022 Château Duhart-Milon is all finesse and elegance, offering cassis, black raspberry, spring flowers, spicy wood, and graphite. Medium to full-bodied, it’s incredibly pure, layered, and seamless, with utter class from start to finish. You can safely drink bottles anytime over the coming 30 years.

On the nose, a dark wine, deeply rooted, yet crossed by a glimmer of hope, like a worm rising toward the light after a long underground journey. The palate is limpid and strikingly beautiful, balancing intensity and grace, like a painter capturing the fleeting moment when the evening sun brushes the landscape.

What intensity in this bouquet, clearly driven by Cabernet Sauvignon and its legendary freshness, which it manages to highlight even in a warm year! Pleasant ripe herbal nuances with notes of eucalyptus, peppermint, tobacco and red berries, along with earthy hints reminiscent of vetiver. Dense and linear, the wine unfolds seamlessly right through to the finish. It is creamy, elegant, and supported by tannins whose power is perfectly controlled. They reveal themselves from the mid-palate onward, with precision and impressive effectiveness, all while preserving freshness. A sapid, persistent wine that can certainly be enjoyed young but also boasts exceptional aging potential.

Broad on the attack, supple mid-palate, perfumed; the wine gains power in the final third of the palate, finishing with a fine, long, unctuous, very good mouthfeel. Blend: 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot. Alcohol: 13.5% - pH: 3.9.

Full of vigor, it powers through the vagaries of the vintage. Tension and concentration form an explosive duo; both the nose and the attack are marked by the Cabernets (78%) with very ripe bramble notes, while the slender palate integrates a tightly laced tannic structure. A lively, fresh wine.

Intense, stately, with ripe and spicy dark brambled fruit flavours, blackberry and cassis, balanced by grippy tannins, crushed rocks, slate and cigar, which add texture and moderation. The serious face of Duhart does well in the vintage, keeping an upright tannic backbone. New cellar at Duhart since 2020. Harvest August 31 to September 28, 3.8 pH. A structured wine that has ripe tannins and powerful dark chocolate flavors. The wine has a licorice aroma and fine layers of black plums and succulent acidity. Drink from 2028.
