Vinum

Riper-fruited on the nose than many wines of the vintage, with plum, roasted notes, and noticeable oak; on the palate, gripping and taut, with marked tannins, restrained fruit, very wild in character, still needs to come together. Will the maturation bring more polish?

Decanter

Quite tannic and massy from the offset and although the tannins aren't too dry this is missing some fruit density and liveliness to balance the filling texture and high acidity. Licks of oak and tobacco line the finish.

James Lawther MW

86% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Cask sample. Red-fruit and spice aromas. Some dilution on the mid palate, the oak imposing, the finish drying. (JL)

Le Figaro Vin

Inky notes open a dark, deep bouquet. This shadow is quickly swept aside by bright, floral fruit. A lovely acidity introduces a slender, delicate, and precise texture. Small red fruits are in place, with a hint of acacia. The acidity holds through to the finish, where there’s a satisfying chew.

A Precise Saint-Émilion with Silky Tannins

The Estate
Born from the 2012 merger of two historic estates and owned by Groupe SMA, Château Grand Corbin reconnects with its prestigious past through its Saint-Émilion wines, renowned for their elegance.

The Vineyard
Covering 28.5 hectares, the vineyard of Château Grand Corbin thrives on the slopes of Saint-Émilion, benefiting from an exceptional terroir composed of silica over a bed of blue clay. This particular soil, combined with vines averaging 40 years of age, gives the wine its unique personality.

The Vintage
After a mild and wet winter, spring and summer experienced unusual rainfall, forcing the teams to maintain constant vigilance to preserve the sanitary quality of the grapes.

Vinification and Aging
Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, precisely allocated: 35% new oak, 40% one-wine barrels, and 25% two-wine barrels.

Blend
Merlot (86%), Cabernet Franc (12%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (2%).
