Château La Gaffelière 1997

This wine has turned out to be lighter than I initially thought. Nevertheless, it is a pleasant cranberry and cherry-scented and flavored effort with considerable finesse, medium body, and undeniable elegance. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

A delicate and fruity wine with some tobacco and mineral character. Light and fresh on the finish. Drink now.

Very pale colour, with the first gentle orange hints. Slightly muted, earthy bouquet with wet mushrooms and mineral notes. On the palate, it is soft at first, then shows a good astringency; some potential, but not entirely well integrated, with unfortunately a slight lack of cleanliness.

Weak, sweet bouquet. Dry, lean, hollow palate with harsh tannins. 13/20

Deep red color. Light to medium intensity. Nose of medium intensity, with delicate notes of fruit, oak and strawberry jam. Pleasant on the palate, appealing for its pure fruit and oak aromas, but lacking body. Can be enjoyed now or cellared for 3 to 5 years.
