Description

La Mondotte unveils a delicate and fruity Red wine from Saint-Émilion

The property

The Château La Mondotte is a wine estate dating back to the 19th century. Relatively recent, this Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion is managed by Stephan Von Neipperg. Belonging to a German family immersed in the world of viticulture for nearly eight centuries, Stephan von Neipperg runs Château La Mondotte with passion and talent.

The vineyard

The Château La Mondotte has a 4.5-hectare vineyard to the east of Saint-Émilion. The old vines, averaging 60 years of age, are planted on a mosaic of terroirs with silty clay soils over a rocky subsoil. The vineyard is managed under certified Organic Agriculture.

Vinification and aging

Vinification in wooden vats. Extraction by pneumatic pigeage. Maceration of 33 days. Aging on fine lees is carried out in French oak barrels (70% new).

Blend

The Château La Mondotte 2020 is made from a blend of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).
