Description
The elegance and richness of a Margaux red wine
The estate
With origins dating back to the 13th century, the Château La Tour de Mons is one of the oldest wine estates in Margaux. Classified as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, Château La Tour de Mons underwent significant renovation work during the 1990s. Managed by CA Grands Crus since 2012 and under the direction of Anne Le Naour, Technical Director of the estate, Château La Tour de Mons produces wines that reflect the typicity and authenticity of the Margaux appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
In one piece, the 48 hectares of vines of Château La Tour de Mons extend over Garonne gravels and clay-limestone soils in the heart of the AOC Margaux.
The vintage
If the heavy rainfall of winter replenishes the water reserves, the mildness of spring promotes the development of the vine. The particularly hot summer does not impact the vines, due to their location within a predominantly clayey terroir on limestone resurgences. The health status is perfect and the merlots are particularly expressive.
Vinification and aging
Aging in barrels (25% new and 75% of one wine), coming from large French forests (Belleme, Moselle, Allier, Rambouillet).
Blend
Château La Tour de Mons 2020 is a blend of merlot (57%), cabernet sauvignon (36%), cabernet franc (4%) and petit verdot (3%).
