Description
The complex expression of a silky and balanced fine red wine from Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion
The estate
Formerly part of Château de Puisseguin, Château La Vaisinerie was built in two stages. The main building was constructed in 1685, while the operating buildings were built in 1718. Owned by the Bessede family from 2004 to 2019, Château La Vaisinerie is today entering a new era in its history following its acquisition by Alain Moses, broker and founder of TWINS.
The vineyard
Located in the so-called "satellite" appellation of Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion, 9 kilometres from the small medieval town of Saint-Émilion, Château La Vaisinerie reigns over a beautiful 13-hectare vineyard. The vines are planted in clay-limestone soils, similar to those of Saint-Émilion. The vineyard is 35 years old on average with grape varieties dominated by Merlot (90%), supplemented by Cabernet Franc (9%). In its lush green setting, Château La Vaisinerie is a paradise of biodiversity. The vines are cultivated in a way that protects the natural environment.
The winemaking
Manual harvest then sorting. Vinification carried out in thermoregulated concrete tanks.
The ageing
12 to 14 months in French oak barrels (1/3 new French oak barrels, 1/3 barrels of one previous wine and 1/3 barrels of 2 previous wines).
The blend
Merlot (90%), cabernet franc (10%).
The tasting
Tasted en primeur, the Château La Vaisinerie 2019 has a beautiful deep red colour with garnet reflections. Intense and expressive, the nose seduces with its notes of small red and black berries mixed with complex notes of toast and menthol touches. On the palate, the wine reveals a beautiful silky and suave texture. Very fresh and balanced, the palate retains a superb length on the finish.
