Description

A fresh and structured Haut-Médoc red wine

The estate

Château Lanessan’s vineyard has belonged to the Bouteiller family since the 18th century. Eight generations have succeeded one another. Since 2020, the management of the estate has been carried out by a new team that has strengthened its long-standing partnership with the famous Médoc oenologist, Eric Boissenot. Today, Château Lanessan is poised among the finest references in Haut-Médoc.

The vineyard

The vineyard of Château Lanessan covers 42 hectares in the Haut-Médoc appellation. The vines are 20 years old on average and are planted on deep Garonne gravel upon a clay and gravel subsoil.

The vintage

The mild and rainy winter gave way to springtime, during which the growing cycle began. Flowering began prosperously at the end of May with hot, dry weather. The summer was cooler and more wet than usual, but it led to a radiant autumn season which enabled the grapes to reach a beautiful maturity, intensity and freshness.

Vinification and ageing

Harvested at full maturity, the grapes undergo a rigorous selection by optical sorting. Fermentation in temperature-controlled concrete vats precedes a 12-month ageing period in 225-litre French oak barrels (1/3 new barrels, 1/3 one-year-old barrels and 1/3 two-year-old barrels).

The blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (57%)

Merlot (36%)

Petit Verdot (7%).
